This charming Californian bungalow provides a sunny & private getaway in Nelson's picturesque Elliott Street heritage precinct, an uber-convenient location that is just a few minutes easy-walk to the heart of the city centre, its cafes, restaurants, galleries, markets & more!
Elliott Street Gem offers 2 bedrooms plus a gorgeous sleep-out bedroom in the garden. Here you'll enjoy a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge with a bay window-seat & lovely French-doors opening to the private deck & garden. There is one off-street car park as well as quiet on-street parking.
Elliot Street Gem is ideal for couples or small groups (up to 6 guests). There is much to love about this home & it's location. It's a fantastic central city base for those that will enjoy heading our for sumptuous cafe brunches or restaurant dinners, exploring the galleries & markets on foot or venturing around the city by bicycle!

All high contact, food preparation and hard wet surfaces are hygienically cleaned and sanitised and our linens are professionally laundered at 80ºC, with bed linens further ironed at 120ºC by one of New Zealand's leading laundry experts, leaving them crisp, clean & superbly comfortable!

Elliott Street Heritage Precinct is a picturesque little street of wood-framed villas & Californian bungalows, which were built between 1880 & 1940. It’s located in The Wood, a quiet and safe neighbourhood close to the Maitai River & just a few minutes from the city. Plenty of good cafes, walking & shopping close by.
It's also an enjoyable stroll from here to the beautiful Maitai River, city walkways or cycle-way, the Trafalgar Centre for events & sports. It's also handy to Neale Park, Founders Park & Miyazu Gardens, the Suter Art Gallery & much, much more!

We loved our time at this peaceful and beautiful home! It was full of character and had a charming historic feel! We enjoyed the outdoor spaces and established garden. Furniture and provisions were perfect for our stay in Nelson and we walked to the Saturday market and into town for breakfast and coffee. Thank you so much! This is a great home in one of the heritage areas of Nelson. Lovely quiet spot. The living areas inside and out face north and the house is light and airy. The beds are very comfortable and the shower had good hot water and a good pressure too! You can walk into the town centre in a few minutes. We would love to return and stay longer.

The north facing garden at the rear of the property was sheltered from the sharp southerly wind during our stay and was a favoured spot to hang out during our stay. The "teenage retreat" in the garden is very well insulated. Passive heating was sufficient to keep it at a comfortable temperature. It was favoured over the bedrooms on the southerly side of the house. The house was therefore the "teenage retreat" in the evening. We suspect someone tried to enter the rear garden via the side gate overnight on Sunday. It was ajar on Monday morning. We had chained the gate and do not therefore anticipate the person was able to enter.

This beautiful house set in a quiet and peaceful historic street is certainly a gem. We found the position perfect for walking into town. The house is well equipped for a comfortable stay. All 3 bedrooms had lovely comfy beds and quality linen. The garden is stunning! We would love to stay again. We would recommend this place suitable for 3-4 adults or a small family.

Comfortable and convenient Our only complaint is our stay was too short! We felt very at home here and it's both quiet and an easy walk to the central city. We would also like to return in summer to enjoy the garden area, which is well set up for relaxing in.

Hello, We had a delightful stay at Elliott St Gem – thank you! The house was super well equipped, and we loved being able to sit out in the garden which was so private and a wee sun trap! In fact the whole house was so sunny and bright, it was great. The beds were comfy, and we loved the gas fire in the evenings. The location was very handy and allowed us to walk into town. We had a meal out at Nahm, and a lovely lunch at Forsters Winery in Upper Moutere – recommend both! We would definitely stay again – thank you for our stay! Kind Regards, Sam

Hi We had a lovely stay at the Elliot St Gem house, the location so close to town was awesome. The house was very tidy and well equipped, we loved the decking and garden area. Our only feedback is that the TV is in such a weird location! Thank goodness there was only 2 of us as it would have been impossible to watch TV as a group, unfortunately we had fairly bad weather so TV was watched more than usual! . It would be much better to have a TV in the lounge too, especially in winter with the fire on. Regards Angela

The Elliott St Gem is a lovely old house right in the centre of Nelson. It's walking distance to all the local eateries and shops. There is a lovely collection of artworks in the house which we enjoyed. The outdoor area is beautiful and we would love to come back and enjoy it fully in the summer. We had a very comfortable stay.

Elliott Street Gem is a gorgeous cottage with excellent amenities and loads of extra touches. For 15 years it was the residence of a Nelsonian artist and arts-community stalwart, whose good taste is evidenced throughout. Cared for like a treasured relative by its new owners, the house is in great condition. It is close to the city centre entertainment and a stroll away to great walking paths and beautiful scenery! We look forward to welcoming you here!
