The views from the top floor looking over the Tasman Bay and mountains in background are spectacular. Sunsets are amazing. At night lie in bed and gaze at night sky through the skylight. Short drive to downtown Nelson.

This was my second time staying here and it was just as great this time around. House well appointed and a good location - a short distance from Nelson CBD but still feels like you’re nestled in the woods.

Hi sara, mara, mayie, Jarrod & Rob, My partner and I really enjoyed the stay in nelson. The place had everything we needed and more. The location was perfect and very close to the city. We especially enjoyed the nature surrounding the house and felt like we were in a tree house secluded from everyone which exactly we wanted to have a relaxing time. Hope everything was fine in your end. Cheers. Sid & Shani

Modern lodging close to town. Met our needs. Be sure you are prepared for the walk from parking to the lodging, especially if you have much to carry. Also, internal stairs are a bit steep. Lovely to have screens on some windows so you could open windows without inviting bugs to join you inside. Also nice to have an air conditioner downstairs for hot days. Appreciated the comfortable bed and soft towels.

Loved being hidden amount the trees! My favorite part was waking up at night and seeing the stars through the sky light over the bed! We had a lovely time staying in Nelson. It was the perfect base for our travels in the area which included: a day hiking in Abel Tasman, a day taking in the wine country of Marlborough, a day hiking Mount Robert at Nelson Lakes and a day enjoying Nelson and local wineries ( our favorite was Neudorf)

The Coastal Retreat was a perfect location for our weekend in the Nelson region. It has everything you need: privacy in a bush-like location, comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen and a fabulous outlook from upstairs. The hosts were very efficient and helpful.

This was a very nice little house, clean linens and towels, very comfortable/quality bed and pillows (we found this was very important when traveling!). The bedroom has a beautiful view. The pathway to the property is very cool, well lit at night, and is in great condition, but it is a bit of a walk with large suitcases. This did not bother us, but is worth noting. We liked the location next to Nelson, very quiet but very short drive into town.

The place and accommodation was great, we enjoyed every moment of it, the view was spectacular, it was cozy and all we needed for our cooking was there. We have to inform you however that the toaster did not functioned when we tried it on the morning of Friday. We had to use the oven to toast our bread at breakfast. Other than that and the fact that the Internet was somethings slow or not functioning at time, which is more of a problem were occurred in the whole of the island
Serge Pepin - Apr, 2017
Hi Serge, Thanks again for staying and we're glad that once you had made it along the path to the home you were happy :-) Sorry about the toaster and thanks very much for letting us know. We'll test and replace this. Thank you also for informing us of an issue with the internet. We're not sure what this could be so we'll look into this! Wishing you a safe trip home and a wonderful year ahead. Hope to host you again Serge. Jarrod - Holiday NelsonHoliday Nelson -

Thank you! The house itself is great - modern styling, fully equipped with kitchenware, laundry and heating system. Lots of board game and books to read which we loved. The parking for vehicle is a little tricky, as we couldn't really drive towards the front of the house, so we have to park our car pretty close to the curb of the road. The staircase was slippery when wet so we do need to take extra care when walking to the house, especially with luggages. The house instructions was given clearly as long as you read it thoroughly. We were once playing treasure hunt to look for the house key, but as soon as we ring the contact phone humber of Holiday Nelson, the lady help us through nicely. Overall we had a pleasant stay! Will recommend.

The house was attractive and beautifully designed, which we very much appreciated. It would be hard to find fault with the accommodation – delightful in every detail. Unfortunately it rained very heavily for most of our stay in Nelson and a gale blew on our last night, which brought down a few small branches along the paths. It also made the wooden walkway rather slippery, particularly on the sloping part, although we navigated it successfully with care. Because of the weather we spent more time in it than we might have expected, so the strong WiFi and good TV reception were very useful. We saw a Weka in the garden, walking along the boardwalk towards the stream, which was an unexpected delight – pity we did not have a camera ready to record it. It probably would have been wiser to take your suggestion of a place with less stairs for the 93 year old, particularly once the boardwalk became so slippery. But she managed it pretty well with no mishaps.

One of those special places we wish we could call our own. Thank you to the property owners & Holiday Nelson for making this wonderful place available to us! We loved the attention to detail, the forest walkway, the lights in the trees, the birds singing & the beauty of the sea out front! Our only grumble (and it's just a small one) was that we overpacked for the trip with enormous, heavy bags that made arriving and departing a task. Had our itinerary allowed we most certainly would have stayed longer!

As a forest lover, bird watcher & admirer of the sea & mountains we could not have chosen a better accommodation for our Nelson stay. We are an older couple & appreciate quality homes & the little luxuries such places offer. Coastal Escape provided the quality we sought, excelled in the comfort department & provided us with hours of enjoyment each day watching the bay from upstairs, lounging in the afternoon sun on the private deck areas or enjoying the sanctuary & beauty of the forest & stream below. The home is modern & compact - not in the small sense, but in the efficient & cleverly designed sense. We made good use of the kitchen facilities & tended to eat earlier & outdoors as the weather was consistently beautiful! There are walkways through other nearby forest areas to parks & playgrounds nearby, the Haven Estuary is just a stone's throw away & makes for a beautiful beach walk at low tide. We even hired bicycles for the 20min or so cruise along the cycle way to the city centre & beach area beyond! I'm told there are mountain cycling trails in the hills behind the city centre & we look forward to exploring these next time we have the opportunity to visit Nelson & enjoy another stay at Coastal Escape! Thanks again team for making it a memorable & enjoyable stay! Ron & Lyn Urvine, NSW.
