About Nelson
Nelson is a beautiful seaside city at the Northern most tip of the South Island of New Zealand. It has been heralded for decades as a summer playground, and in more recent times has become one of New Zealand's most coveted places to live!
Famous for its natural beauty, its excellence as a place for outdoor activity and for its incredibly good weather, this popular provincial centre boasts an incredible array of beaches, lakes, forests, mountains and National Parks. With excellent opportunities for fishing, skiing, water sports, hiking, caving, climbing, mountain biking, winery visits, fine dining and more, it really isn't hard to see what attracts to many visitors to this geological wonderland!
About Marlborough
Marlborough proper lies just over an hours drive East of Nelson and comprises the upper Eastern region of the South Island. It's provincial capital is Blenheim, long time rival of Nelson for the crown of 'New Zealand's sunniest city'. The city lies on the picturesque Wairau Plains, world renowned for incredible Sauvignons, Chardonnays and Rieslings!
Contrasting the vinyard plains and grassy slopes of the Wairau are the isle peppered waterways of the Marlborough Sounds. Servicing this area and forming the gateway to the South Island from the North is the charming seaside village of Picton. Offering access to one of New Zealand's favourite boating areas, Picton also offers excellent kayaking, hiking, mountain-biking and a cafe and restaurant scene to rival that of any tourist destination in the country!
