Hi Sara, Jarrod and Peta-Jane, Thank you for your email. We had a wonderful time at Mapua beach house and everything was as you had described, or even better. We all enjoyed being so close to the sea and all that the house and garden offered. It was good to meet Viv, who showed us around and was helpful in explaining the alarm, washing machine etc. We also loved the area, the wharf, the national park and more. The only slight issue was the ants, which hopefully a change of weather will / has sorted.
Penny Hawkins - Jan, 2018Hi Penny, Wonderful to hear and we're really glad that you enjoyed your time at the beach house and in the area! We hope you'll visit again. We have undertaken extensive ant baiting and hopefully the return of wet weather will somehow mean a decline in ant populations or less need for them to come inside houses. We are dealing with them at many homes at the moment! Thankfully they weren't a big problem during your stay. All the best for 2018!Holiday Nelson
We had a wonderful time in the sandy bay house. This house is your home away from home. Wonderful view of the water and easy access to the beach that is right at your back door. They have thought of everything including Sheridan sheets.Everything that we needed was provided. I would highly recommend this place to friends and family. We didn't stay long enough to truly enjoy what the area had to offer. We would love to return again and stay in this house again.

This is a fantastic beachside property with great facilities and a relaxed vibe, but it really is the stunning views that take it to another level. We had two "mid-winter" nights there and loved it: saw two stunning sunrises. The carry-out food place a few doors up was a lifesaver on the first night, as was the woodburning stove: it got very cold both nights, but we were able to snuggle up around the fire and watch a dvd. Thank you.
Iain Manson - Aug, 2017
Good communication. This was a great place to stay over winter- beautiful views out the window, lovely weather during the day and a fireplace at night. We were very comfortable and there was plenty to do. Definitely plan to return.
Suzanne Macleod - Aug, 2017
Wonderful location to relax and spend some quality time with family and friends. Had two young boys with us and they had a blast. Was really nice to have the fireplace ready to go to heat the living room area as we were there in winter. We really loved our stay and will definitely go back again if we can.
Nicholas Carter - Jul, 2017
What a wonderful place in a most perfect location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will most definitely stay again.
Karen and David Rees - Jul, 2017
Hi, We had a wonderful stay. Thanks. The service you provide was great. Very quick responses to email enquiries etc was helpful. I liked the fact that we knew the house would be clean and well maintained. Everything was set up and provided.
Sam Scarratt - Jun, 2017
Fantastic location right on the beach and the house was very comfy with everything you could need. HN team was very helpful especially when we wanted to come a day early at short notice - they answered our email very quickly. This made a huge difference to us as our holiday plans had to change due to fog conditions.

Hi, Thank you, your service, our stay at the property, and our time in Nelson were all excellent. The property was ideal for our family holiday and was exactly what we had hoped for. It had everything we needed, had really nice decor, yet it still felt very comfortable and we felt able to relax and enjoy it. We really enjoyed exploring the Ruby Bay / Mapua area, and liked the fact that it was close to the Abel Tasman area but also close enough to Nelson, so we felt we always had plenty of options. We got plenty of use on our skim board which had perfect conditions at our doorstep once the tide went out a bit. A highlight of our stay was doing "canyoning" in the Alel Tasman park, it was one of the best times we have had ever ! Would we stay again ? Absolutely ! Kind Regards, Chris, Hanna, and Jacob

Hi Jarrod, We had a great time in Tasman and the house suited our needs well. The property is in a great location being on the beach front and the views were great, sunrise esp. A couple of recommendations for future improvements: It is good to have the basic cooking condiments, soap etc though they need to be checked pre arrival, and have a minimum level. Noticed the fridge was still grubby when we arrived, and with 2.5 hours cleaning charged , standards should be high. Mosquito screens on some windows would be good as had hot nights and the mozzies were ever present. If the kayaks were available to use, this would have been a great added value for guests.. A couple of bikes would be good too for an early morning ride to the Java Hut!! The service from your company all went smoothly, with access info clear and concise. Only real issue was the change in charges after we had made the initial booking See you next time
A van der Peet - Jan, 2017Hi Andrew, Thank you for the feedback - this is really appreciated. We'll talk with our housekeepers to ensure the fridge is not missed during turnovers. We want standards to be high and we frequently allow more than 2.5 hours to service the home to do this so it can be done right. So our apologies that this wasn't the case this time. With the weather of late we almost find ourselves missing the mozzies! Great idea re the screens for those nights. Perhaps this would be possible on key windows/doors. The mozzies are short-lived here for now - they tell us to expect tropical mosquitos in Nelson in years to come - courtesy of climate change! We would love to offer bikes and kayaks again, but the liability insurers and legal advice gathered to date has unfortunately put everybody off :-( We look forward to hosting you again in future.Holiday Nelson
Hi Jarrod, We absolutely loved staying at Mapua Beach House. It was perfect for our family, with the beach on our back doorstep, close proximity to Mapua Warf and a perfect "base" for our day trips around the region. The house felt so comfortable as soon as we walked in, everything was ready and available for us to use and the fire was ready to light! We had a fantastic time, and once again thank you for letting us stay at Mapua Beach House. We will certainly be back!!
K & C Luckraft - Nov, 2016
Absolutely gorgeous house and a real novelty to walk out of the garden onto the beach. Lovely homely place and great deck area for views out to sea. Perfect location for exploring the area. Mapua has some great places to eat a short drive away.
L Sowden - Nov, 2016
We had a lovely time, great beach house lovely location, very clean with plenty of room for our family. We hope to come and stay again in the coming year.
N & A Lowrey - Sep, 2016
In short, a great place, fully lived up to the listing and expectation. Great location, beautiful surroundings, tonnes of activities in the vicinity and a wide selection of restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. The house is spacious, clean, light and well equipped. Vast collection of folders and other tips made available by the hosts. All in all a very pleasant experience and would love to come stay here again!
Reyn - Mar, 2016
We sat out by the beach at sunset, on the patio bench looking at the Milky Way stars at night. Very romantic. Bring groceries and take care of internet needs before you visit though, as it's more rustic than we expected (not a bad thing).
Christopher - Mar, 2016
What a wonderful little beach house! Right on the beach. It was very comfortable with a lot of extras. Well supplied with utensils etc.
Randall - Mar, 2016
The batch was perfect for a long weekend! it had everything we needed and the location was perfect for looking around the area. Everything we needed was provided, and the place was very comfortable.
Chris - Mar, 2016
What a beautiful setting for our summer break! The listing and images describe the bach perfectly and it had everything we needed, including the amazing view and the super soft beach towels which were much appreciated on all our trips to Kaiteri and beyond :) As adults, we separated the bunks but the top one was a little uncomfortable, we just swapped around and took turns which was fine. I would imagine it would be great for kids. Would book this again! Thank you.
Ellen - Feb, 2016
This home was beautiful with a gorgeous view of the bay. We loved having direct beach access and found this the perfect place to relax.
Megan - Feb, 2016
The house itself was exactly what we Kiwis love about our holiday home culture - nothing pretentious but comfortable. Ruby Bay is a great place from which to explore Nelson and the surrounding areas. With Mapua 5 minutes down the road and the great redevelopment of the wharf area there it really is a buzzy place to be. This property would have to have the most extensive and informative supply of maps and brochures available all conveniently sorted into categories/pouches - so helpful. My one little comment would be that there didn't seem to be a hairdryer anywhere so I had to go out and purchase a dryer. Thanks to the owners for sharing their special 'get away' place with us.
Denise - Feb, 2016
This house is just what it promises...right on the beach with everything you need to feel at home and just a little elegant. The beach is intriguing..a swim at the front door on high tide, interesting shell fish beds when the tide goes out and snapper if you can put a rod on your kayak or use a net. the beach is quite and great for walking, or if you want a more lively screen the wharf cafes a a walk or short bike ride away. I checked out some cafes and art and took a bike ride around Rabbit Island. Well worth it for a get away from the city.
J Allison - Jan, 2016
Lovely place next to the beach and on the cycle track through Mapua. The house is very neatly presented inside, welcoming and comfortable. Great off street parking, a BBQ and a deck, everything you want to totally enjoy this areas of Nelson. I stayed five nights, I highly recommend it.
W Goossens - Jan, 2016
Beautifully presented house and location. Child friendly (we went with a busy 1 and 3 year old, easy to close off parts of the house, gate at top of stairs on the deck etc) and good lay out. Everything you need in the well supplied kitchen. Five minute drive to Mapua and 15 to Motueka. We hope to be back for a longer break soon!
H Snowden - Jul, 2015
Stayed five days in early July 2015, the house had a lovely warm relaxing feeling to it Although winter time, the house was warm and quickly heated with a wood burning heater, with wood provided. A covered deck which included a BBQ, a large table and ample seating gave views over the sea. The TV with Freeview access could be viewed from both the deck area and indoors. Although no children were with us, there was ample room for our visitors and children to play within this fully fenced property, even the deck could be secured to stop small children from straying from it. Besides roadside parking, there was also on site front parking for at least two cars and boat, so ample parking for both ourselves and any visitors. There was also plenty of under deck storage for windsurfers, kayaks, etc. There is also a security system for when we are away from the property. Definitely an A1 place to stay at.
